Katherine PrummFUNCHAL (PORTUGAL),  May 7, 2008 – After the quick development of the FIM Women’s Motocross World Cup throughout the years following the first edition in 2005, the series was upgraded to World Championship at the end of 2007. It will see its first World Championship round get underway this weekend at Sevlievo, Bulgaria, representing a brand new course for the women riders.

Katherine Prumm enters Sevlievo holding the red plate but will face a strong opposition in the likes of arch rival Livia Lancelot, Maria Franke, Larissa Papenmeier and lots more.

After winning the 2006 and 2007 World Cups onboard a Kawasaki machine, Kiwi Katherine Prumm is ready to start the 2008 season inside the Yamaha Van Beers Racing Team. Having completed a solid winter of preparation in Europe, Prumm is fit and looking forward to Sevlievo.

Prumm’s arch rival Livia Lancelot will ride her second season with the Kawasaki satellite team GPKR and is extremely hungry for success. The French rider held the red plate in 2007 but lost to Prumm at the final round in Lierop, collecting the runner up spot in the Championship after ending third both in 2005 and 2006.

<<Hey everyone…sorry this has taken so long to post, I’ve been waiting on my video to get here, but decided to post it without it>>

This weekend was the last indoor series race of the season. I’ve raced three races so far and placed 3rd, 2nd, and 4th. I came into this weekend dying for my first win. It’s pretty hard going from winning every outdoor supercross race to not winning a single indoor supercross race.

The night started out well. Practice was good and as usual, I excelled in my heat race, taking 1st. Then came that dreaded main event, 6 laps of pure chaos in the Women’s Quad class. One of our regular riders broke her wrist last week in a wreck but was still racing this weekend to keep her point standing.  The other two girls in the class are fairly new to the sport, but are just as hungry as I am to win. Sometimes, that gets us into trouble.

Sitting at the gate watching the card, I let off my brake and noticed I started to roll forward, so….instead of taking the chance of jumping the gate and getting caught in it, I decided to wait until I knew the gate was completely dropped, then take off. That right there began the Pretty Tough ride. I was last into the holeshot, again. I thought to myself, “Why does this feel so familiar?”….maybe that’s because that’s exactly how last weekend began.

Pretty Tough can mean a lot of things to different people. To me, Pretty Tough represents exactly what this past weekend’s indoor race was for me. Anyone who has read any of my previous postings knows I love my Honda 400ex quad. This past summer was my first season of racing ever….and that was outdoors. This winter is my first season of indoors racing (check out my last posting for the differences!!).

Anyways, this race was my third one of the season. My past two races I’ve finished third and second…which some racers may be satisfied with. But, when you know in your head and heart you can win….those results just aren’t enough….especially when you’re winning your heat races (for those of you who don’t know much about motocross/supercross….after practice, you have a heat race, or moto 1, and then a main event, or moto 2).

So, practice comes and goes, I loved the track! My heat race came and went (check the video below!) I got the holeshot, and by the end of the race had gained a whole track length’s lead on the second place rider…….I was pretty psyched for the main to come, I thought I could finally win my first indoor race!
