Collegiate basketball player Katie Holloway has a hidden agenda

Katie Holloway (Lawrence K. Ho / Los Angeles Times)Northridge, Calif. Dec. 22, 2007 - Katie Holloway has twice won awards as sixth woman of the year, but revealing everything about her game has been an evolving process for the 6-foot-4 senior starter.

As a highly ranked high school senior Holloway was heavily recruited by a number of high profile colleges.  When she revealed what she had staunchly kept concealed for so long - the fact that she wears a prosthetic lower right leg - a number of coaches lost interest.

The 6-foot-4 Holloway is now the starting center for Cal State Northridge, which four years ago was struggling to retool after winning only five games during the previous two seasons. Northridge coaches, though surprised to learn of Holloway’s disability, considered her worth the risk.
