August 15, 2008 - Here are some highlights from Day 7 of the Summer Games:
Field Hockey:
USA defeats New Zealand, 4-1 - The U.S. Olympic Team for Women’s Field Hockey defeated New Zealand 4-1, at the Olympic Green Hockey Stadium. Striker Keli Smith scored two goals to pace the USA. The United States faces Great Britain on Monday, August 18th in the final pool play game of the Olympics.
Soccer:
U.S. Women advance to semis - Natasha Kai headed in an extra time goal, giving the defending champion United States a spot in the Olympic women’s soccer semifinal with a 2-1 victory over Canada.
Water Polo:
U.S. Women’s Water Polo hammers Russia 12-7 to complete group play; Advances to Semi-Finals - Winning the group assures USA keeps running it’s streak of reaching the medal round of every major tournament since the 2000 Olympics.
