Gabby, Florida: “My nickname is Clueless because I never pay attention in practice but at games I’m really good.”
Kristin, Ontario: “My nickname is Gimps because I recently had surgery on my knee, so I was on crutches for a while. Now, my whole team calls me Gimps.”
Melissa, Quebec: “My nickname is Vicious because I’m always the first one to dive for a loose ball and I’m not worried about getting hurt so I’m always going all out. One day at practice one of my teammates said how insane I was out on the court so now they all call me Vicious.”
Lizette, Michigan: My nickname is Lizettey. I know, it doesn’t even seem that weird. All of my friends just add an extra syllable to our real names, but it’s totally fun. lol. We’ve recently started to call our friend Nick “Nicky” now.
Megan, North Carolina: “My nickname is Mini Me because my coach also coached my mom and he gets me confused with her and called me her name alot so he just calls me Mini Me.”
Emily, British Columbia: “Irvie, because in grade 4 we had to do this thing where you use the 1st 4 letters of your last name (Irvine) and the 1st letter of your first name. Mine turned out to be Irvie and kids started teasing me…before long EVERYONE was calling me Irvie (yes, even my coach) and after a while it just stuck.”
Stephanie, Minnesota: “This was my first year on a hockey team, and my team decided to call me YELLOW LAB. I have yellow hockey gloves, and a girl on my team said they were the same color as her dog, which was a yellow lab, therefore she was going to call me “Yellow Lab“. The name stuck all season, and when I see my old teammates, they always remind me of my name.”
Mya, New York: “My first year on the field hockey team for modified I had a nickname that was “Freaky Mya.” The reason they gave me the nickname was that everytime I went to shoot the ball into the net I had such a determinded look on my face that it was scary. So, they used to cheer me on from the sidelines, and it worked because I had alot of goals that season.”
Amber, California: “My nickname is Waldo. When I first tried out for my club team, I wore red and white striped socks so the coach (trying to be funny) asked if I’ve ever read the ‘Where’s Waldo’ book’s. As I wore the socks more often, he began to call me Waldo which worked great considering there was another Amber on the team already.”
Sara, “My nickname is Mighty Mouse, because I am the littlest girl on my team. My coach gave me the name and it stayed with me from then on.”
Michelle, “My nickname was given to me by a few of my friends (Stephen, Eric, and Dom). The nickname they gave me was Small Earz because my ears are so small! They always made fun of me, but it was funny when they did. I have a little sister who is 6, and her ears are the same size as mine! I love having small ears, it beats having big ears!”
Sarah, Indiana “My nickname is Rah Rah”
Jocie, Texas “My nickname is José because the anouncer at a swim meet pronounced my name so badly that instead of saying Jocie (said: Jaw-see) he said José. It’s now a huge joke on my swim team and everyone calls me by it. I love it.”
Erica, Florida “My nickname is Air. It started out short for Erica than just stuck and moved over when I got involved with racing. What can I say? I live for Air.
Kim, Delaware “My nickname is Scoop. My dad started it, because I’m the first baseman, and not much will get by me if there is a bad throw. My glove is made for First Base, too, so it scoops up everything. So now the whole team, including my coaches and dad, call me Scoop.
Mandy, Texas “All my friends call me, “Pandy“. I think its cute but I don’t know why they do it! Ha ha!!
Stephanie, Nebraska: My nickname would be HE because in hockey I’m the only girl on my team. After a couple games the other team would go ‘good game boys’ as they would walk through the line and I would make a big deal about it in the locker room, how I wasn’t a boy. Then the captain just started calling me HE. Not him, not it, not boy but HE.
Jacey, Colorado: My nickname in softball is Twix because i always mix it up. My name in volleyball is Spike because i LOVE to hit!!!!!!!!!!
