(11/7/07) - U.S. Figure Skating and NBC announced the expansion of coverage for the 2008 U.S. Championships Skating Spectacular. The exhibition, previously slated to be a one-hour show, will now be shown from 4-6 p.m. EST on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008.
The extended taped broadcast is a continuation of U.S. Figure Skating and NBC’s dedication to covering the sport of figure skating. The two-hour Skating Spectacular will feature the top four senior competitors in each discipline as well as the champions from ladies, men’s, pairs and ice dancing in both novice and junior.
“We’re thrilled to be able to offer this extended programming to the fans of figure skating,” U.S. Figure Skating Executive Director David Raith said. “The two-hour Skating Spectacular is just another way U.S. Figure Skating and NBC are working together to bring figure skating and showcase our world-class athletes to as many fans as possible.”
For the first time in history, figure skating fans around the world will be able to watch the U.S. Championships, including novice, junior and senior competition, from start to finish via television programming on NBC and broadband coverage on icenetwork.com. Live commentary for the icenetwork.com broadcasts will be provided by two-time Olympic medalist Nancy Kerrigan.
