Ten high school girls to keep an eye on in 2007-08

They run, play lacrosse, volleyball, soccer, golf and basketball and they’re among the top girls playing high school sports. Check out Sports Illustrated list of the 10 girls who deserve the highest high school accolades.

Lacrosse player Erin Brennan from Garden City, New York  is an alternate on the 2007 U.S. Women’s Under-19 National Team.

Hurder/sprinter Jacquelyn Coward from Knoxville, Tenn. is the winner of seven state titles during the last two seasons.

Golfer Mina Harigae from Pebble Beach, Calif. is rated the No. 2 junior girls’ golfer in the nation by Golfweek.

Cross Country runner Kathy Kroeger from Franklin, Tenn. is the reigning champ of the Foot Locker Cross Country National Championships.

Volleyball player Kelly Murphy from Joliet, Ill. notched 496 assists and 353 kills as a setter and opposite hitter  last year.

Midfielder Christine Nairn from Severn, Md. is an NSCAA/adidas All-American and two-time Parade All-American Soccer Player who also plays for the U.S. Under-17 National Team.

Midfielder Teresa Noyola from Palo Alto, Calif. was the 2006 NSCAA/adidas Youth National Player of the Year and a two-time All-American who now trains with the U-20 team.

Center Nneka Ogwumike from Cypress, Texas,  averaged 21.9 points and 10.3 rebounds per game last winter to earn Gatorade State Player of the Year honors.

Forward Brooklyn Pope from Fort Worth, Texas guided her school to the Class 4A state title last year while averaging 20 points, 12 rebounds and five blocks per game.

Pole Vaulter Shade Weygandt from Mansfield, Texas set a Texas prep record with her vault of 13-7.
